Driverlink Training is the leading transport training provider in the North West

Why a Driver CPC Consortium Matters for Transport Operators

Keeping drivers compliant with Driver CPC rules takes time.

For busy transport operators, it can feel like a full-time job on its own.

That is where a Driver CPC Consortium comes in.

At Driver Link Training, we make managing your drivers’ training simple, so you can focus on running your business.

What Is a Driver CPC Consortium?

A Driver CPC Consortium is a system that helps companies manage their drivers’ Driver CPC training in one place.

Every professional lorry, coach and bus driver in the UK must complete 35 hours of periodic training every five years to keep their qualification valid.

Tracking those hours across a whole team is not easy.

With our Driver CPC Consortium, we take on that admin for you.

We handle course uploads, keep attendance records and make sure your drivers stay compliant.

No more chasing paperwork or worrying about missed deadlines.

Why It Matters for Your Business

Running Driver CPC training in-house can pull your team away from the day job.

A Driver CPC Consortium changes that. Here is why it works so well:

  • Compliance made easy – We keep on top of the rules so you don’t have to worry about falling behind.
  • Full training management – From booking to record keeping, we manage the whole process.
  • Accurate attendance records – Every session is logged and stored properly.
  • Course uploads handled for you – We upload completed hours, so your drivers’ records stay up to date.

This saves you time, money and stress.

You get peace of mind knowing your drivers are qualified and legal to work.

Flexible Course Dates

We know drivers can’t always take a weekday off.

That is why our Driver CPC courses run twice a week, on Thursdays and Saturdays.

The Saturday option means you don’t have to lose a driver during the working week.

You can view all upcoming dates on our course calendar and book the sessions that suit your team best.

From driver wellbeing to digital tachographs, our modules cover the topics that matter most on the road.

More Than Just Driver CPC

A Driver CPC Consortium is just one part of what we offer.

If you want to strengthen your operation further, our Transport Management CPC course gives you the skills to run a compliant and efficient transport business.

It is an industry-recognised qualification that many operators find invaluable.

You can explore everything we do on our services page, and pick up handy tips and updates over on our blog.

What Is the Driver CPC Portal and How Does It Help You?

Keeping on top of Driver CPC training can feel like a full-time job in itself.

Between tracking hours, storing course materials and staying compliant with DVSA rules, the paperwork soon piles up.

That’s where the Driver CPC Portal comes in.

In this post, we’ll explain what the portal is, how it works and why it makes life easier for drivers, transport operators and training companies alike.

What Is the Driver CPC Portal?

The Driver CPC Portal is a secure online system that gives you quick access to everything you need for your Driver CPC training.

Rather than juggling folders, emails and printed sheets, you log in from one place and find your course materials, records and modules ready to go.

At Driver Link Training, we’ve built the portal to serve three distinct groups, each with their own dedicated login.

First, there are drivers completing their periodic Driver CPC training with us.

Second, we support companies and employers whose drivers are undertaking their training through Driver Link Training, giving them easy oversight of their team’s progress.

Third, we provide access for consortium members who deliver Driver CPC courses using our material under our centre approval

Both get a simple login that puts DVSA-approved content at their fingertips.

We’re a family-run business, established in 2010 and based in Skelmersdale.

As the leading transport training provider in the North West, we know how valuable your time is.

The portal is our way of cutting the admin so you can focus on the road or your business.

How Does the Portal Work?

The idea is straightforward. Consortium members get their own online login.

Once you’re in, you can reach approved Driver CPC course materials without any fuss.

For training companies and transport operators who join our Driver CPC Consortium, the portal is even more powerful.

You gain access to fully approved courses that are ready to deliver, so you skip the fees and heavy admin of getting your own material signed off with the DVSA.

What You Get With the Consortium

Sign up as a consortium member and you’ll receive:

  • 12 x 3.5-hour DVSA-approved courses, written by experienced trainers and ready to deliver
  • Qwizdom interactive software built into the material, keeping sessions engaging
  • Everything delivered under our centre approval, saving you the hassle of DVSA sign-off

This means you can start running Driver CPC training quickly, without building materials from scratch.

Key Benefits of the Driver CPC Portal

Here’s why the portal works so well for everyone involved:

  • Easy access to course materials – all your DVSA-approved content sits in one login.
  • Interactive learning – Qwizdom software keeps drivers engaged rather than just ticking a box.
  • Simple compliance tracking – keep training records tidy and ready when you need them.
  • Time saved for transport companies – no chasing paperwork or losing a driver for the day.
  • Less admin burden – the consortium option removes the cost and effort of DVSA approval.
  • Ready-made modules – 12 approved courses at your fingertips.

For a transport operator running a busy fleet, this matters.

Instead of pulling a manager off other jobs to sort compliance, the portal keeps everything organised in the background.

Who Is the Portal For?

The Driver CPC Portal suits a wide range of people:

  • Professional drivers completing their periodic training with us
  • Transport operators who want to train drivers in-house
  • Small training companies looking to deliver quality courses without the setup costs
  • Driving instructors exploring new revenue streams

Whichever group you fall into, the portal takes the stress out of Driver CPC.

You can view our full range of services to see how it fits alongside our other training options.

Ready to Book Your Driver CPC Training?

We run Driver CPC courses twice a week, on Thursdays and Saturdays, so you can fit training around your work.

If those days don’t suit your business, just get in touch and we’ll help.

Check the latest dates on our course calendar and book the session that works for you.

Who Is Ideal for DriverLink Training’s Driver CPC Consortium Services?

Running Driver CPC training shouldn’t pull your team away from the day job. If managing course uploads, attendance records and compliance feels like a second business, our Driver CPC Consortium gives you a simpler, fully supported route.

Call DriverLink Training today on 01942 826 133 or email our team to find out how quickly you can start delivering compliant training without the admin headache.

Our Driver CPC Consortium Services suit a range of organisations across the transport sector. Below, we explain who benefits most, and how the consortium helps both you and the drivers you train.

Who Benefits from Our Driver CPC Consortium Services?

The consortium is built for any organisation that wants to deliver approved Driver CPC training without becoming its own approved centre. Here are the five customer types who get the most value.

Training Providers

If you already deliver training, the consortium lets you add Driver CPC to your offer quickly. You gain access to approved, ready-to-deliver materials and full admin support, including course uploads, attendance records, quality assurance and certification compliance.

This means you can grow your services without building everything from scratch. Your customers benefit too: drivers receive professional, consistent training that keeps their cards valid and their compliance on track.

Haulage & Logistics Companies

Haulage operators face constant pressure to keep drivers on the road. Joining our Driver CPC Consortium lets you train in-house, on your own schedule, with less downtime.

The benefits include:

  • Reduced disruption — train at your own site, around your shifts
  • Lower costs than becoming an approved centre
  • Compliance handled so your drivers stay legal year-round

For your customers, this means reliable deliveries from a workforce that’s properly trained and fully compliant.

Bus & Coach Operators

Passenger safety and service reliability depend on well-trained drivers. With our Driver CPC Consortium Services, bus and coach operators can deliver periodic training without sending drivers off-site for days at a time.

You get approved materials and expert guidance, while we manage the backend compliance work. The result is a smoother rota, fewer gaps in service and passengers who travel with drivers held to a high professional standard.

Fleet Operators with In-House Trainers

If you already employ trainers, you have the people, but not necessarily the approved structure. The consortium gives your trainers everything they need to deliver compliant sessions under our established systems.

Your in-house team can run courses:

  • At your own premises
  • On customer sites, where it suits the job

This flexibility keeps training close to your operation. Drivers stay compliant with minimal disruption, and your customers see a fleet that’s consistently professional and well-managed.

Organisations Wanting to Deliver CPC Without Becoming Their Own Centre

Becoming an approved Driver CPC centre is expensive and time-consuming. There are setup costs, ongoing compliance duties and material requirements to manage.

Our consortium removes that burden. You deliver the training; we handle uploads, attendance, quality assurance and certification compliance. You get professional resources and specialist support without the cost or stress of running your own centre.

For your end customers, this means access to high-quality, compliant training delivered by an organisation backed by transport specialists.

  • Full admin support — course uploads, attendance, quality assurance and certification compliance

  • Significant cost savings compared with becoming your own approved centre
  • Flexibility to train at your own site or on customer premises
  • Expert guidance from a leading North West transport training provider

Every one of these benefits flows through to your customers. Drivers stay compliant, vehicles spend less time off the road, and training is delivered to a professional standard you can stand behind.

Manage Everything in One Place with the CPC Portal

As a consortium member, you also get access to our CPC Portal, an online tool that makes managing Driver CPC records simple and stress-free.

Drivers can log in to view their certificates and reports, see upcoming courses, monitor their own card expiry, and stay informed about any changes in legislation.

The CPC Portal is especially helpful for companies managing multiple drivers. Here’s how it can make your admin easier

  • Driver CPC Card Expiry Tracking
  • Driver Management
  • All-in-one Management
  • Course Tracking

By keeping everything centralised and up to date, the portal saves you time, reduces admin stress and helps both you and your drivers stay fully compliant year-round.

The Ultimate Guide to Driver CPC Training in 2026

Professional drivers play a vital role in keeping goods and people moving safely and efficiently across the UK. In 2026, Driver CPC training remains essential for maintaining high standards in safety and competence.

This guide provides clear information about Driver CPC training requirements, your options for accredited courses, and what sets DriverLink Training apart.

What is Driver CPC and Why Does It Matter?

The Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (Driver CPC) is a standard of training for professional bus, coach, and lorry drivers. Introduced across Europe to improve road safety and maintain high driving standards, it remains a legal requirement for professional drivers in the UK.

Holding a valid Driver CPC card proves that you have the skills and knowledge to do your job effectively and safely.

The 35-Hour Requirement

To keep your Driver CPC card valid, you must complete 35 hours of periodic training every five years. If you miss this deadline, you cannot legally drive professionally until you complete the training.

Many drivers make the mistake of leaving their CPC training until the last minute. At DriverLink Training, we encourage a more proactive approach. Spreading your CPC driver training out over the five-year period is often less stressful and more beneficial for learning retention than cramming a week of courses in at the eleventh hour.

Why Choose DriverLink Training?

We know that for many, the phrase “periodic training” sounds like a box-ticking exercise. You might picture a dull classroom, endless PowerPoint slides, and staring at the clock.

At DriverLink Training, we are committed to providing driver CPC training that goes beyond the basics. We don’t just want you to attend for seven hours; we want you to engage, learn, and actually enjoy the course. Our philosophy is simple: better training leads to better drivers, and better drivers keep our roads safer.

Our Driver CPC Course Offerings

We understand that one size rarely fits all in the transport industry. That is why our driver CPC course catalogue is designed to cover a broad spectrum of relevant topics.

From drivers’ hours and tachograph rules to health and safety and safe loading, our courses are designed to be practical. We use experienced trainers who know the industry inside out. They don’t just read from a script; they use real-world examples that you will recognise from your daily work.

Interactive Learning

Gone are the days of passive listening. We incorporate Qwizdom software into our training sessions. This interactive technology allows for real-time engagement, making the sessions lively and ensuring that everyone is following along. It transforms a standard CPC driver training day into an interactive experience where your input matters.

The Driver CPC Consortium: A Solution for Operators

Are you a transport manager or a training company looking for a smarter way to deliver training?

Maintaining your own JAUPT-approved courses can be a bureaucratic nightmare. It involves constant updates to materials, administrative fees, and rigorous audits.

This is where the DriverLink Training CPC Consortium comes in.

Benefits of Joining Our Consortium

By buying into our consortium package, you can bypass the headache of developing your own materials. We provide:

  • Ready-to-Deliver Courses: Access 12 distinct 3.5-hour approved courses.
  • Up-to-Date Materials: Our team ensures all content meets current DVSA standards.
  • Less Admin: We handle the heavy lifting regarding centre approval and course writing.
  • Flexibility: Perfect for haulage companies wanting to instruct internally or driving instructors seeking new revenue streams.

Driver CPC portal

This allows delegates to view certificates, qwizdom reports, previous courses and planned courses they are on. It also allows companies to view the above for all of their drivers.

This allows you to deliver high-quality CPC training under our centre approval without the massive overheads of doing it solo.

Planning Your Training for 2026

If your card is due for renewal soon, or if you are just looking to get a head start on your next five-year block, now is the time to act.

Finding the right driver CPC course shouldn’t be a hassle. We offer a flexible calendar of training dates to suit busy schedules, including weekend availability.

Don’t Risk Your Livelihood

Driving without a valid CPC card carries a fine of up to £1,000. But beyond the financial penalty, it puts your livelihood at risk. Professional drivers are the backbone of the economy, and maintaining your professional competence is the key to a long and successful career.

By choosing DriverLink Training, you are choosing a partner who cares about your career progression as much as you do. We are passionate about what we have achieved and strive only to better ourselves—so we can better serve you.

Ultimate Guide to ADR Training at DriverLink (2026)

The transport of dangerous goods is a specialised field that demands the highest standards of safety and expertise. For professional drivers, gaining an ADR certificate is not just a regulatory requirement; it’s a mark of competence that opens doors to new career opportunities.

This guide explains everything you need to know about ADR training and why DriverLink Training is the premier choice for getting you qualified.

What is ADR Training and Why is it Essential?

ADR stands for “Accord Dangereux Routier,” which is the European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road. This legislation mandates that anyone involved in transporting hazardous materials by road must receive appropriate training. This includes not only drivers but also staff involved in packing, loading, and storing these goods.

The purpose of ADR is to protect people, property, and the environment from the risks posed by hazardous substances.

Without this training, you are not legally permitted to transport dangerous goods. Holding a valid ADR certificate demonstrates that you have the knowledge and skills to handle these materials safely, respond effectively in an emergency, and comply with all legal duties.

Why Choose DriverLink for Your ADR Training?

When you invest in a qualification, you need to be sure you are receiving the best instruction possible. Not every company is authorised to provide this specialised training.

DriverLink Training is a DVSA-licensed provider, which means the SQA regularly vets us to ensure our courses meet stringent national standards.

Our instructors are not just teachers; they are seasoned professionals with extensive experience in the safe movement of dangerous goods. They bring real-world knowledge to the classroom, ensuring you are trained to the highest possible standard.

Understanding the ADR Course Structure

ADR training is not a one-size-fits-all course. It is designed with a modular structure, allowing you to tailor the qualification to your specific job requirements.

Every course begins with the mandatory Core module, which covers the fundamental principles of transporting dangerous goods.

From there, you select additional modules based on the types of goods you will carry and the vehicles you will operate.

Course Modules Explained:

  • Core: The foundation of your ADR training.
  • Packages and Bulk: For drivers transporting goods in packages, drums, or loose in tipper trucks.
  • Tankers: A specialist module for drivers operating road tankers.
  • Classes of Dangerous Goods: You can specialise in specific classes of materials:

Tailoring the Course to Your Needs

The flexibility of the ADR structure means you only train for what you need. For example:

  • General Haulage: A driver carrying a wide variety of packaged goods would typically take the Core, Packages and Bulk, and Classes 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, and 9 modules. This is the most comprehensive and cost-effective route for general carriers.
  • Petroleum Industry: A fuel tanker driver would need the Core, Class 3 (Flammable Liquids), and Tankers modules.
  • Waste Industry: A driver in the waste sector, who may transport various hazardous materials in tankers, would likely take Core, Tankers, and a broad range of classes (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, and 9).

We are always happy to discuss your specific operational needs to help you build the right course package.

Practical Skills for Real-World Scenarios

Theoretical knowledge is vital, but ADR training also focuses on practical application. At DriverLink Training, your course includes three crucial hands-on exercises to prepare you for real-world emergencies. You will learn and be tested on:

  1. What to Do in an Emergency: Understanding the correct procedures to follow to secure a scene, alert authorities, and mitigate risks.
  2. Use of Fire Extinguishers: Gaining confidence and competence in using the correct type of fire extinguisher for different fire classes.
  3. Basic Emergency First Aid: Learning essential first aid techniques to provide immediate assistance in the event of an incident.

These practical elements ensure that you leave the course not just with a certificate, but with the confidence to act decisively and correctly when it matters most.

The Benefits of an ADR Qualification in 2026

Earning your ADR qualification is a smart career move. It enhances your professional standing and significantly boosts your employability.

Companies across sectors like fuel distribution, chemical manufacturing, waste management, and general logistics actively seek drivers with valid ADR certificates. This specialism often translates to higher earning potential and greater job security.

The qualification is valid for five years, after which you will need to attend a refresher course and pass the relevant exams to keep it current. This ensures your knowledge remains up-to-date with any changes in legislation.

Get Qualified with DriverLink Training

Investing in your skills is investing in your future. ADR training provides you with the legal certification and the practical expertise to excel in a specialised and in-demand area of the transport industry.

At DriverLink Training, we are committed to delivering expert instruction in a professional and supportive environment.

Ready to take the next step in your driving career and become qualified to transport hazardous goods? Our team is here to guide you through the process and help you select the perfect course for your needs.

PG10 Clearance Notice via email as of February 2026

From the 2nd February 2026, you will now receive your prohibition clearance notice automatically by email within 24 hours of your vehicle passing its prohibition clearance test.

The email will be sent directly to the operator whose email address is linked to the vehicle on the Vehicle Operator Licencing system (VOL). This replaces paper copies for a quicker, greener process.

DVSA have stated that:

“This will help save time for our colleagues, align with our sustainability goals and brings heavy vehicle clearances in line with the existing prohibition clearance process for light vehicles”

How it works:

Initial Prohibition (PG9): A vehicle examiner finds serious defects (eg: brakes / steering) during a roadside check. They will then issue a PG9 and the vehicle must not be driven until this is fixed.

Repairs: The owner fixes the defects and takes the vehicle for a re-inspection, usually at an authorised testing facility (ATF).

Prohibition Removal (PG10): If the vehicle passes the inspection (often full MOT), the examiner issues a PG10 form, removing the restriction.

If the prohibition has been issued by the police instead of DVSA, the Vehicle Standards Assessor (VSA) will still issue you with a PG10 prohibition clearance notice.

Nick’s Success Story with DLT🚛

Nick came to us on a cold, wet, miserable night in February 2024 with a clear goal in mind, to progress his career and open new opportunities in Class 1 driving. Like many learners, he arrived with a mix of excitement and nerves, but also a determination to succeed.
Our instructors worked closely with him from day one, focusing on building solid foundations, boosting confidence, and ensuring he understood both the practical and safety elements of operating a Class 1 vehicle.

During his time in training, Nick completed:

  • Application, Medical, theory tests (with support from ourselves)
  • 1-1 Class 1 training with hands-on support

A career in transport management is not just a job; it’s a pathway to a stable and rewarding future.

If you are organised, a great problem-solver, and looking for a dynamic career, then becoming a qualified Transport Manager could be the perfect move for you. Here are the top five reasons to pursue a career in transport management.

5 Reasons to Pursue a Career in Transport Management

1. High Demand and Job Security

As long as goods need to be moved, there will be a need for qualified Transport Managers.

The logistics industry is constantly growing, fuelled by the rise of e-commerce and complex global supply chains. This creates a consistent demand for professionals who hold the Transport Management Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC).

This qualification is a legal requirement for any business operating vehicles over 3.5 tonnes, making those who hold it indispensable. This built-in necessity provides a level of job security that is hard to find in many other professions.

2. Excellent Career Progression and Earning Potential

Starting a career in transport management opens up numerous opportunities for advancement.

The skills you develop are highly transferable, allowing you to move between different types of companies, from small local hauliers to large international logistics firms.

With experience, you can progress to senior roles such as Operations Manager, Head of Logistics, or even Director level.

The Transport Management CPC is often the first and most crucial step on this career ladder.

The responsibility that comes with the role is also reflected in the salary, with experienced managers earning competitive wages that increase with experience and the scale of the operation they manage.

3. Develop a Powerful and Transferable Skill Set

The Transport Management CPC isn’t just a certificate; it’s a comprehensive training programme that equips you with a robust set of skills.

The qualification equips you with the knowledge to run a compliant and efficient transport operation, covering everything from vehicle maintenance schedules and driver hours regulations to financial management and business law.

These skills are not only valuable within the road haulage industry but are also highly respected across the broader business landscape. The ability to manage complex operations, ensure legal compliance, and handle financial planning makes you an asset to any organisation.

At Driverlink Training, our course provides you with this industry-recognised qualification, giving you professional skills that are truly transferable.

4. Play a Vital Role in Business Success

A qualified Transport Manager is central to the success and safety of any logistics operation. You are responsible for ensuring the company complies with all legal requirements, protecting the business’s Operator Licence and reputation.

Beyond compliance, your strategic decisions directly impact the efficiency and profitability of the entire operation.

From optimising routes to save fuel and time to managing drivers and maintaining vehicles, your work has a tangible effect on the bottom line. This level of responsibility makes the role both challenging and incredibly rewarding. You are not just another employee; you are a key figure in the company’s success.
