Nick’s Success Story with DLT🚛
At Driverlink Training, nothing makes us prouder than seeing our students take the skills they have learned with us and turn them into real world success. Today, we are excited to spotlight Nick, who passed his Class 1 test with us in May 2024 with our training team – and has gone on to build an impressive career in the transport industry.
Starting the journey
Nick came to us on a cold, wet, miserable night in February 2024 with a clear goal in mind, to progress his career and open new opportunities in Class 1 driving. Like many learners, he arrived with a mix of excitement and nerves, but also a determination to succeed.
Our instructors worked closely with him from day one, focusing on building solid foundations, boosting confidence, and ensuring he understood both the practical and safety elements of operating a Class 1 vehicle.
Training Experience with us
During his time in training, Nick completed:
- Application, Medical, theory tests (with support from ourselves)
- 1-1 Class 1 training with hands-on support
- Mock tests to prepare him for the real exam
He consistently impressed our instructors with his dedication, willingness to learn, and ability to take feedback onboard.
Passing the Class 1 test
Thanks to his hard work, Nick passed his Class 1 test on his first attempt. This achievement opened the door to exciting opportunities — and he didn’t waste any time stepping through it.
Where He Is Now
Nick didn’t just land a job — he stepped into a career he’s passionate about.
He now proudly works as a Class 1 tramper driver for T Wilson & Sons, playing a vital role in the supply chain. Week to week, he:
- Transports perishable and non-perishable goods for major UK retailers
- Manages the responsibility of long-distance haulage
- Adapts to different routes and loading operations across the country
- Ensures efficient and safe delivery from depot to destination
- From Scottish motorways to the South Coast, Nick now travels the UK — building experience, confidence and a career he truly enjoys.
He’s embraced the independence of tramping life, and has even shared with us how much he looks forward to hitting the road each week. The early mornings, the changing scenery, the sense of purpose — it suits him perfectly.
